FAQs

  • Why do you have a 12 month contract?

The 12 month initial contract is designed to help execute your financial plan. We feel an ongoing relationship is the best method to stay on track and maintain success. After 12 months, your relationship converts to month to month.

  • Do you work by the hour or project?

We do not work by the hour. In order for us to give you the best advice, we need to dive into all areas of your finances. Working by the hour does not fit our philosophy of providing comprehensive advice

  • What happens after 12 months?

After the initial 12 months, your relationship continues on. Your financial plan is updated annually and we meet throughout the year based on your plan level. However you are no longer under any contract and can cancel anytime.

  • Is my fee reduced after 12 months?

While we have very few rules set in stone, traditionally we do not. While there is quite a bit of work done upfront, we designed our fees to spread the true cost to us over the years. Instead of charging a setup fee and then reducing your fee, we believe a set and predictable fee is the preferred approach.

  • Does your pricing depend on how much money I have?

Absolutely not! Our pricing is independent of how much money you have or how much money you make. It is strictly based on the complexity of your situation.

  • What's the difference between each plan?

The advanced financial plan is designed for those just starting out. The main objective is to organize your documents, establish a foundation, and start implementing initial financial planning techniques such as saving, enroll in company benefits, or paying off debt.

The professional financial plan is designed to reach financial independence. The main objective is efficiency, leveraging the foundation you have built and maximizing your potential. The professional plan includes tax strategies and goal based planning.

Our private client plan is designed for those in or near retirement and business owners. Additionally, more complex investment portfolios and use of alternative investments fall into this category.

  • Do you charge a fee to manage my investments?

All of our financial planning packages include a thorough asset allocation review, an assessment of overall portfolio performance against your risk tolerance, and guidance to ensure alignment with your goals. However, our financial planning fees do not cover direct investment management. If you choose to have us manage your investment portfolio, there will be additional fees for that service. The good news? If we manage your investments, your financial planning annual fee is completely waived—meaning financial planning is seamlessly included in your investment management package.

  • How often can I meet with you?

Our fee structure is based on complexity and time involved. For the Advanced & Professional plan, we meet every 6 months. For the Private Client plan, you have the option to meet every quarter. Regardless of the plan you select we are always available by email.

  • Can I pay by credit card?

Yes!  You can pay by credit card.

  • How does your billing work?

All billing is done in arrears, meaning your payment is processed at the end of every month. When you intially sign up, there is no charge until you complete your first monthly cycle. You have the option to pay by credit card or deducted from your investment account.

  • Why do you charge for financial planning?

Some firms offer financial planning for free. Usually under these arrangements, the firm is actually charging you by trying to sell you products or by taking a percentage of your investments. Under both of these arrangements, the advisor faces a conflict of interest. We charge a financial planning fee to try and remove as many conflicts of interest as possible and solely focus on providing the best advice for you.
